 IFAI Certification Program
IFAI supports four professional certification categories that recognize individuals for knowledge, skills, experience and dedication to excellence in a variety of specialty fabric product and management categories.
Master Fabric Craftsman (MFC) (click on the link for a list of MFCs)
- Highest level of professional certification for fabricators
- Identifies excellence in all phases of product design, craftsmanship and installation
- Requires five or more years manufacturing specialty fabric products
Certified Craftsman (CC) (click on the link for a list of CCs)
- Recognizes professionals who have a fundamental level of skill and knowledge in manufacturing specialty fabric products
- Identifies standard principles of product design, craftsmanship and installation
- Requires three or more years of manufacturing specialty fabric products
Industrial Fabric Manager (IFM) (click on the link for a list of IFMs)
- Recognizes superior knowledge of the principles and practices of business and organizational management
- Identifies excellence in two of four specialty areas, including marketing, production, finance or personnel
- Requires five or more years in specialty fabric business management
Certified Project Planner (CPP) (click on the link for a list of CPPs)
- Identifies excellence in product design, cost estimating and site inspection
- Recognizes superior skills in salesmanship and customer involvement
- Requires three or more years in product design and customer relations
* As of January 15, 2009, the IFAI Professional Certification program is being suspended until further notice. Over the past three years, an average of only seven individuals has been certified per year. IFAI must evaluate the cost of offering a program that does not appear to be of primary importance to the majority of our members in its current form. Please note: We are putting the certification program "on hold" in order to investigate alternatives such as revising the individual certification program, and/or introducing a company level certification program. In the meantime, IFAI will no longer be accepting new applicants or renewal applications. For those who are up for renewal, we are extending their certification while we review our options.
